Students opting to undertake a fieldwork-based dissertation may incur additional costs for travel and equipment. Such students are advised to make appropriate financial provision for this prior to commencing the course. Students will be directed to possible sources of funding to assist with these costs.
Students progressing from the MRes to the PhD will normally undertake 12-18 months' ethnographic fieldwork during which they may incur additional costs for travel, maintenance and equipment. Students are able to apply to the University Fieldwork Fund for assistance in meeting these costs and will receive guidance about other funding sources for fieldwork.
