All postgraduate students receive training in research skills via their department’s or faculty’s postgraduate training programme.
Beyond this, you’ll have access to a rich array of opportunities to develop both your professional and academic capabilities. These are offered not only by your faculty or department but also by specialist teams including Postgraduate Education & Development, the Careers Service, Public Engagement and the Libraries.
Workshops, courses and events cover an extensive range of topics, including presenting, attending conferences, entrepreneurship, time and project management, career planning, writing, publication strategy, teaching, motivation, creative thinking and resilience, among many others.
Building these skills will not only support and enhance your postgraduate study but will also equip you with a strong foundation for a successful career beyond your studies. While participation in these programmes is not mandatory, we strongly encourage you to make the most of the diverse opportunities available to you.
