Postgraduate Study

Economics is no longer accepting new applications.

Dr X is definitely enthusiastic about the material and he is good at explaining - I really like the first part of the course (where we learnt how to estimate VARs in Matlab) and I think the project was a great idea -- it taught us some very practical skills (how to programme in Matlab) and how to interpret and make sense of real-world economic data -- I think there should be many more such projects and applied exercises for other courses on the MPhil -- this really teaches you how to work as an economist (I honestly think this is one of the most important things I will remember from the MPhil a year from now).

…the best course on the MPhil. It actually took as a starting point the real economy and relied in part on formal modelling but also considered legislation, institutions, psychology etc. to understand the workings of international financial markets. It was exactly difficult enough to allow someone with limited financial knowledge to partake. Great job.
