Feedback
The University of Cambridge publishes an annual Code of Practice which sets out the University’s expectations regarding feedback. Students should expect to receive ongoing feedback from all supervisors involved in their research project. This could take place during one-to-one or lab meetings. In addition, students can expect to receive a written online report each term.
Assessment
Thesis / Dissertation
All PhD students are required to submit a thesis of no more than 60,000 words, which is examined by Viva.
Other
All PhD students are probationary in their first year and must undergo a viva examination at the end of the year based on a report on their research project, which they must pass. This is examined by two assessors and, if passed, students are registered for the PhD and can continue with their projects.
Due to the first 6 months being dedicated to lab rotations for the DTP MR course - the timing of the First Year Assessment is approximately 18 months from the commencement of the course.
