Assessment

Thesis / Dissertation

The scheme of examination for the MPhil in Mathematics shall consist of the following:

  1. A thesis, of a length and form appropriate to the topic, on a subject approved by the Degree Committee (typically <20,000 words).
  2. An oral examination on the thesis, and on the general field of knowledge within which it falls.

The Mathematics Degree Committee approves the research title of the thesis, appoints examiners and scrutinises the reports of those examiners before approving students to proceed to the degree.
