Apply using the Applicant Portal

The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal. There, you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and you can also request your references.

An application is only complete when:

  1. you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
  2. you have paid the application fee if applicable. For further information on application fees, and which courses require an application fee, see here.
  3. your referees have provided their references.

If you miss the deadlines specified in this section, you will not be able to submit your application.

Whilst the minimum requirement is a high (upper second) honours degree, most of the students admitted will have a first-class honours degree.

Applicants to this course are asked to provide additional contextual information about their undergraduate study. The information provided in the contextual form allows us to better understand the circumstances of an applicant's undergraduate study and achievement

Applicants from overseas, who need to apply for extra funding to cover the gap between home and overseas fees, should apply by the funding deadline.

Selection Process

Applications are considered as part of a gathered field. The closing date for applications is 7 January 2025. It is anticipated that shortlisted applicants will be interviewed in January/February 2025.

Applicants from overseas will need to apply for funding - applications should be made online via the Applicant Portal by the same deadline of 7 January 2025.

How to Find a Supervisor

PhD students at The Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID) do NOT apply to join an individual research group. The advantage of our program is that at the start of the PhD, students will be offered a range of topics with potential CITIID supervisors. Students then choose two 3-month rotation projects in the first 6 months of the program. At the end of the two rotation projects, students are able to make an informed decision about the laboratory in which they would like to undertake their main 3.5 year PhD project.

On our webpage we provide a list of potential PhD supervisors. Please see the link for more information.
