Funding Opportunities
The Institute offers a number of fully-funded PhD studentships annually. In the majority of cases, funding is provided by the charity Cancer Research UK (CRUK); and in some cases, by external organisations.
A CRUK CI studentship will cover full payment of University fees and a stipend currently set at £21,000 per annum. Students are also provided with consumables funding via their Research Group, and a travel allowance for conference attendance.
The annual studentship competition normally takes place between the course application opening date in early September and January of the next year, for entry the following October. The majority of PhD studentships are advertised to coincide with the course application opening date, with a deadline around early November. Studentships are advertised on the CRUK CI website, on the University's Job Opportunities page under 'Studentships' and on the website FindAPhD.
In addition, studentships are advertised from time to time outside the annual studentship application window, and prospective students should keep an eye on the channels listed for these opportunities.
