Applicants for the PhD are eligible to apply for the Wyse Studentship for Social Anthropology, for which a separate application is required.

All students must normally undertake 12–18 months' ethnographic fieldwork during which they may incur additional costs for travel, maintenance and equipment. Students are able to apply to the University's fieldwork fund for assistance in meeting these additional costs and will receive guidance about other funding sources for fieldwork.
