Apply using the Applicant Portal
The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal. There, you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and you can also request your references.
An application is only complete when:
- you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
- you have paid the application fee if applicable. For further information on application fees, and which courses require an application fee, see here.
- your referees have provided their references.
If you miss the deadlines specified in this section, you will not be able to submit your application.
All successful applicants will be allocated to work on a specific industry-sponsored project. Hence, in addition to looking at this course listing, you are strongly encouraged to examine the list of studentships currently available on the CDT website; this list will be updated either until all places have been filled, or until the application deadline, whichever is earlier. You should then name the studentship on your application in the 'Proposed Research Title' section, as specified in the studentship advert. For applicants who apply who do not specify a listed studentship, the CDT will attempt to identify a suitable supervisor, industry partner, and project based on your stated research interests; however, this may not be successful, in which case the application will not proceed.
In all cases, shortlisted applicants will be invited to a panel interview with the CDT management and relevant industry partner(s).
You should also be aware of the CDT's I+ Scheme, which might be relevant to some projects. Successful applicants to the Industry+ scheme will spend a year employed by an industry partner prior to starting the MRes. Before submitting your application to Cambridge, students who wish to apply for the Industry+ scheme should contact the CDT for information on how to proceed.
Selection Process
Applications will be considered in batches after the deadline for each advertised project. Applications received without a named studentship will be considered if or when the CDT identifies a suitable project, supervisor and industry partner. Applications received before the Postgraduate Funding Competition deadline will be reviewed and considered for funding in January with an expected outcome in April or May. The course team aims to shortlist, interview and provide a decision within 6 weeks of each project deadline. The process for applications without a named studentship is likely to take longer as appropriate partners etc. are identified.
Note that it is possible that all places will be filled before the final application deadline. If this occurs, the course entry in the online prospectus will be labelled as "closed".
