Postgraduate Study

Teaching

There are no taught components to the MSt year: it is focused only on researching and delivering the dissertation.

One to one supervision

Each student will meet with the project supervisor on a monthly basis (so approximately 11 hours/year).

Seminars & classes

Groups sessions and seminars are organised to provide research skills training and scaffold individual supervision. The exact number will depend on cohort size.

Literature Reviews

Students will write a literature review as part of their dissertation.

Posters and Presentations

Students will deliver oral presentations at two two-day conferences: the first presenting their research project, the second presenting their findings.

Placements

No formal placements are offered, but students may undertake their research embedded within industry.

Feedback

Students will receive regular feedback from supervisors, as well as from other students with whom they are grouped. The early-project conference also provides an opportunity to give feedback on a proposed topic. Termly feedback reports will be submitted to CAMSIS by the Course Director

Assessment

Thesis / Dissertation

Students are required to write a thesis of between 10,000 and 12,000 words.
