Postgraduate Study

Apply using the Applicant Portal

The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal. There, you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and you can also request your references.

An application is only complete when:

  1. you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
  2. you have paid the application fee if applicable. For further information on application fees, and which courses require an application fee, see here.
  3. your referees have provided their references.

If you miss the deadlines specified in this section, you will not be able to submit your application.

Potential applicants should contact the CDT directly through its University of Manchester website and receive instructions before accessing this Cambridge application portal. You will not be able to submit an application on this web portal without uploading an email from the CDT administrator. Home applicants will be asked to apply to the University of Manchester. If allocated to a Cambridge project, they will then use this application portal mid-year to transfer to Cambridge. Suitable international applicants will be asked to apply to the University of Cambridge in the first instance.

Selection Process

Please see the University of Manchester CDT website or contact them directly for application closing dates to the CDT. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis. Students will be informed if they have been invited to interview within a month of application to the CDT, and will receive interview outcomes within a further two weeks. Students who are currently registered on the CDT at the University of Manchester and who have been allocated a project in Cambridge will receive a decision on their application as quickly as possible.
