Apply using the Applicant Portal
The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal. There, you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and you can also request your references.
An application is only complete when:
- you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
- you have paid the application fee if applicable. For further information on application fees, and which courses require an application fee, see here.
- your referees have provided their references.
Applications may be submitted between September and April for entry in the following academic year. They are considered as they are received (rolling admissions) by the Faculty within 12 weeks. It is in the applicant’s best interests to submit their application early, as places may be filled before the final deadline date.
Selection Process
Qualified applicants will be invited to an interview (usaully conducted online). The admissions process will include a diagnostic test (for candidates with some Greek and/or Latin) or a language aptitude test (for candidates with no prior knowledge of Greek and/or Latin).

You should start preparing the things that you'll need when you apply. These will be mandatory, unless specifically flagged as optional.

Two referees willing to give you a reference
Either academic or professional – please see our References guidance for more information about which type you need. Your referees will need to have submitted their reference by the course deadline. - Transcript
- CV/resume
- Evidence of competence in English
If required - please see our Competence in English guidance for more information. - Core - Statement of Interest (1500 characters) (mandatory)
An explanation of why you are interested in studying on this course. Please include details of any prior knowledge of ancient Greek and/or Latin, and briefly summarise any other language learning experience. - Core - Sample of Work (1) (document upload) (mandatory)
A sample of written work between 2,500 and 5,000 words. This should be a recent piece of academic writing on a relevant subject, in which the applicant examines a question in some depth.

How to Find a Supervisor
Each Diploma student will be assigned an Advisor from among the senior members of the Faculty.
