Apply using the Applicant Portal
The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal. There, you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and you can also request your references.
An application is only complete when:
- you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
- you have paid the application fee if applicable. For further information on application fees, and which courses require an application fee, see here.
- your referees have provided their references.
If you miss the deadlines specified in this section, you will not be able to submit your application.
Selection Process
Applications are considered as they are received, on a rolling basis. Please be aware that places are limited and that the course may fill up before the published deadline. The Centre welcomes and encourages early applications where possible.
Applicants should expect to hear whether they have been successful within eight weeks following the submission of their completed application and required supporting documents.

Things You'll Need
In order to apply for this course you'll need to think about getting a few things ready before you apply.
- Two academic references
- Transcript
- CV/resume
- Evidence of competence in English
If required - you can check using our tool - Research Proposal (7500 characters) (mandatory)
A research/thesis proposal of approximately 500 words. - Sample of Work (1) (document upload) (mandatory)
A sample of your written work (around 2000 words) from a previous academic course, on a subject that is as close as possible to the fields you will be working in for the MPhil.
Gates Cambridge Scholarships
If you wish to be considered for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship you will also need to provide the following:

How to Find a Supervisor
You may contact a potential supervisor before applying if you wish. You may consult the list of potential supervisors, but please note that this list is not exhaustive. If successful applicants have not indicated in their application the name of a suitable person who has agreed in principle to supervise their thesis, a supervisor will provisionally be appointed as part of the selection process. All supervision arrangements will be reviewed at the start of the course.
