Apply using the Applicant Portal
The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal. There, you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and you can also request your references.
An application is only complete when:
- you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
- you have paid the application fee if applicable. For further information on application fees, and which courses require an application fee, see here.
- your referees have provided their references.
If you miss the deadlines specified in this section, you will not be able to submit your application.
All applications are considered as they are received (rolling admissions).
Please note that applications are only accepted for Michaelmas Term entry.
Selection Process
Applicants should expect to hear whether they have been successful within twelve weeks following the submission of their completed application and required supporting documents.
Selected candidates will be interviewed remotely or in person.

Information about your motivation for applying for this course and outline relevant experience and interests. You are encouraged to look at the course structure page on the MPhil SC website (https://mphil.csc.cam.ac.uk/course_structure/) before applying, and state whether you are interested to follow the ‘atomistic’ or ‘continuum’ stream. You may also state your preference for a research project area or topic, however this is not compulsory. - Sample of Work (2) (document upload) (mandatory)
