The first-year training, delivered by leading researchers in the field, provided exactly the aerosol science foundation I needed. I particularly value the opportunity to connect with students and academics across universities, including collaborations beyond the UK, which has broadened my scientific perspective. The level of student support throughout the programme is excellent. The CDT also provides comprehensive funding that not only covers tuition and stipend but also supports laboratory research expenses as well as conference and travel. Overall, the CDT has made a significant contribution to both my scientific development and professional growth.

From the outset, it created an environment that values collaboration and integrative thinking, encouraging students to approach problems from multiple perspectives. The training programme provided me with a structured foundation of core aerosol science topics and research skills that helped me transition confidently into my PhD research project. It also created opportunities to engage with many academics and professionals from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. This exposure has reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and diverse skill sets, which I have found particularly valuable when thinking about career paths beyond the PhD. I have especially appreciated the regular opportunities to connect with other CDT members through conferences, seminars, summer schools, and thematic research group meetings, which have provided a continuous source of inspiration and made the PhD experience richer and more connected to the broader aerosol science community.
