Fieldwork expenses and funding
Some students conduct fieldwork as part of their research work towards the PhD, and additional expenses will normally be associated with this. Fieldwork expenses incurred will vary, depending on the nature and location of the fieldwork, and these costs should be planned for from the outset. Students can apply for financial assistance from the Faculty to contribute towards the costs of fieldwork, but there is no automatic entitlement to a particular level of funding. Awards are likely to be for no more than £2,500 and only major expenses over and above those which would normally be incurred in Cambridge will be considered.
If you study part-time, the University Composition Fee will be 60% of the annual full-time fee for 5 years; or 75% of the annual full-time fee for 4 years.
