Funding Opportunities
The vast majority of our students are UKRI-funded through the:
- Cambridge Climate, Life and Earth (C-CLEAR) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP); and
-
Application of Artificial Intelligence to the study of Environmental Risks (AI4ER) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). This CDT consists of a taught Masters in the first year followed by a PhD in a partner Department of the University or BAS. The application process for this course is detailed in the Course Directory entry for 'MRes + PhD in Application of Artificial Intelligence to the study of Environmental Risks'.
Both C-CLEAR and AI4ER offer a limited number of funded studentships. For details on how to apply, funding, eligibility and application closing dates visit the C-CLEAR and AI4ER websites.

Students may have to bear additional costs in relation to PhD associated fieldwork and/or research trips. These costs will be specific to the individual student and project. Applicants should discuss any potential additional costs with their intended supervisor before making an application. Supervisors can often cover or contribute towards these costs, depending on the financial resources available. Where not possible or where research-related expenses are specifically not included in a stipend or if students are self-funding, students will usually be expected to find additional funding elsewhere.
