Postgraduate Admissions

Cambridge Trust

The Cambridge Trust offers over 500 scholarships every year to postgraduate students from all around the world, studying all subjects and at any College. The Trust was established in 2013 after a merger between the Cambridge Commonwealth and Overseas Trust, which had been providing funding for international students since the 1980s, during which time it has supported nearly 20,000 scholars.

Gates Cambridge Trust

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established in October 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university. The programme takes between 80 and 90 scholars each year who demonstrate outstanding intellectual ability, a commitment to improving the lives of others and leadership potential. The programme takes Masters and PhD students from any country outside the UK.

Harding Distinguished Postgraduate Scholarships

The Harding Distinguished Postgraduate Scholars Programme was established in February 2019 thanks to an extraordinarily generous donation from the David and Claudia Harding Foundation, the biggest single gift made to a university in the UK by a British philanthropist. These fully funded Scholarships are available to the most talented PhD students in any discipline, from all parts of the UK and the world. The programme takes at least 25 scholars per year.
