Postgraduate Admissions

Expected Academic Standard

Applicants for this course should have achieved a UK Masters (Distinction).

If your degree is not from the UK, please check International Qualifications to find the equivalent in your country.

Applicants are ordinarily expected to attain (or be on track to attain) "distinction" in a relevant MA or MPhil programme. They are also expected to have a strong undergraduate academic record (UK honours or equivalent); to show clear evidence of research potential; and to possess the language skills necessary to conduct the proposed research. It is not unusual for applicants to feel that they will need to develop their language skills or acquire new ones. If this is the case, the application should explain how the student proposes to combine language study with doctoral research.
