This course involves a mandatory placement to carry out a research project. Students are advised that the Department does not provide funding to cover any costs incurred as a result of this research placement (eg travel costs). While many students carry out their research project in Cambridge, some may choose to go further afield. Those students who undertake research outside of Cambridge will be expected to meet any additional costs themselves, unless arrangements can be made with the host organisation. If working away, the costs of returning to Cambridge to deliver the final assessed presentation will also need to be met by the student.

Students are required to have their own laptop. The cost if purchased new will depend on choice, but existing laptops if less than four years old are likely to be fine.
