Studying for my MPhil at the Early Cancer Institute has been incredibly rewarding. There is constant opportunity to be surrounded by and exposed to researchers at the very forefront of their field, working from an enormous variety of angles to attack one core problem. This is not only inspiring, but results in a form of collaborative ethos unlike any other institution of which I’ve been a part. From work in progress talks, access to cancer biology seminars, and day to day friendly interactions between labs, the Early Cancer Institute presents the ideal environment in which to be a student – one that encourages sharing of ideas at all stages and is full of accessible resources. For me, this environment has resulted in an immense amount of professional growth in terms of computational skills, confidence in seeking mentorship, and a greater knowledge of the diversity of research career pathways.
