Most of our students find it useful to work with a laptop.

While our libraries are excellent, some students prefer to purchase books for their own use. They may also choose to undertake research which necessitates specialist equipment and materials. All postgraduate students will belong to one of the Cambridge colleges, and colleges are often able to make small grants to help with the costs of such materials.

The Department advocates that students plan for research for which they can arrange funding for Fieldwork, visits and research as these can take place overseas and be costly. Students are eligible to apply annually for Faculty Fieldwork and Kettle’s Yard Travel Fund money to help defray these costs.

If you study part-time, the University Composition Fee will be 60% of the annual full-time fee for 5 years; or 75% of the annual full-time fee for 4 years.
