Most of our students find it useful to work with a laptop.

Whilst our libraries have a wide repository of resources, some students prefer to purchase books for their own use. They may also choose to undertake research which necessitates specialist equipment and materials.

The Department advocates that students plan for research which they can arrange funding for.  Fieldwork, visits and research which take(s) place overseas can be costly. The University and many of its Colleges offer small bursaries for postgraduate students to give papers at conferences and go on field trips. Bursaries are awarded on a competitive basis and may not cover the full cost of the trip.

If you study part-time, the University Composition Fee will be 60% of the annual full-time fee for 5 years; or 75% of the annual full-time fee for 4 years.
