Expected Academic Standard

Applicants for this course should have achieved a UK Masters (Merit).

If your degree is not from the UK, please check International Qualifications to find the equivalent in your country.

Applicants to the PhD must have achieved the equivalent of at least a Merit grade in a master’s degree in a relevant discipline.

Students continuing from a Cambridge MPhil onto the PhD in Sociology need to gain at least 70% in their MPhil dissertation and 70% overall.

Applications will be judged on past academic performance, but also on the quality and originality of the research proposal; we may also take into account your employment history, previous research experience or publications, etc.
