Department of Public Policy (Bennett School of Public Policy)

The MPhil in Digital Policy is professional Master's course intended for early career professionals. It is an interdisciplinary course, spanning political science, economics, law, and computer science, and it will provide a firm foundation for understanding the challenges and possibilities posed by digital transformation.

We are looking for applicants with at least two to five years of professional work experience at the nexus of technology and society, who have a desire to build careers in digital policy. Applicants should have already embarked on, or be planning to embark on, careers as leaders in digital policymaking. We are seeking applicants who wish to work at the frontier of digital transformation, whether that is in shaping technology policy in the public sector, navigating the regulatory landscape in the private sector, or advocating for digital rights in civil society.

The MPhil in Public Policy is a professional Master's course which provides a multidisciplinary grounding in public policy theory and practice, offers practice-oriented teaching, and is intended for early career professionals. The course provides students with a thorough intellectual grounding and practical experience in the processes of policymaking, as well as an understanding of the range of knowledge and skills they need to be effective in the world of policy.

This PhD is ideal for candidates with a strong academic background and a passion for applied research in public policy. It will suit those seeking to bridge academic inquiry and real-world policy challenges. Students will benefit from close links with the department’s academic and research staff, which will provide them the support to develop as independent researchers and future policymakers. Students will work independently under the guidance of a supervisor whose research expertise will fall closely within the aims of your planned PhD research topic.
