You need to pay an application fee when you apply for a postgraduate course at Cambridge, unless you are eligible for an application fee waiver.
Application fees
Fees from September 2025:
- Doctoral courses (including combined MRes + PhD courses):
£20 per applicant, per academic year of entry. You can submit up to a maximum of 7 applications. - All other postgraduate degree courses:
£85 per application

Paying the application fee
When to pay
You must pay the application fee before submitting your application.
Your payment includes a 14-day cancellation period. If you cancel within this time period, you can receive a full refund.
By paying the application fee, you agree to the application fee terms and conditions.
How to pay
You pay the application fee online through the Applicant Portal.
We accept:
- Visa debit and credit cards
- MasterCard debit and credit cards.
We do not accept American Express.
Payments made using Internet Explorer may fail. We recommend using a different, supported browser when paying your application fee.
