Sustainability Leadership - MSt
The Master of Studies (MSt) in Sustainability Leadership is a full Master’s degree, delivered part time over two years for working professionals.
It is fully accredited by the University of Cambridge, and is delivered as an interdisciplinary programme by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), drawing on academic expertise from, among others Departments of Engineering, Geography, Land Economy and the Cambridge Judge Business School.
Both academic excellence and practical application in a business context are prioritised in the competitive selection process, and in the design and delivery of the programme. Assessment is through short practical assignments and an extended research dissertation.
The programme has been running since 2010, and attracts an exceptional calibre of senior and mid-career leaders from all across the world, and a range of business sectors. Applicants may wish to formalise their credentials as sustainability professionals, or gain a better understanding of how sustainability risks and opportunities apply to mainstream business functions. We likewise appeal to leaders from the not-for-profit or public sectors who wish to work together with the private sector to address sustainability challenges.
Sustainability Leadership Flexible - MSt
The Master of Studies (MSt) in Sustainability Leadership Flexible is the third stage in a 3-stage flexible route to a full Master’s degree. This final stage is delivered part time over two years and is aimed at working professionals. It is part of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership's (CISL) mission to empower individuals and organisations to take leadership to tackle critical global challenges.
It is fully accredited by the University of Cambridge, and is delivered as an interdisciplinary programme by CISL, drawing on academic expertise from, among others, Departments of Engineering, Geography, Land Economy and the Cambridge Judge Business School.
Both academic excellence and practical application in a business context are prioritised in the competitive selection process, and in the design and delivery of the programme. Assessment is through a Research Essay.
The programme is intended for students who have already completed stages 1 and 2 of the flexible route, i.e CISL's Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma in Sustainable Business. Applicants may wish to further develop their academic writing, research and presentation skills, develop a more in depth understanding of key sustainability topics of relevance to their organisation, and extend their learning, leveraging further input from workshops, peers, and supervisors.
Sustainable Business - PGCert
The Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Business (PCSB) blended programme is a nine-month master's-level postgraduate programme delivered part time for working professionals.
Fully accredited by the University of Cambridge, and equivalent to a third of a master’s, PCSB is widely regarded as one of the leading master's-level programmes internationally for individuals who are seeking to enhance their ability to lead and influence change for sustainability, whilst also gaining an academic award.
The programme is delivered by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), and attracts strong, international cohorts of senior and mid-career professionals, predominantly from business, but also including those from a not-for-profit or public sector background.
PCSB students benefit from the world-class peer networking opportunities that the programme provides, as well as tailored support through short practical assignments to embed the learning within their organisations and/or value chains. The course also develops research skills and can be used as a building block to attain the Master of Studies in Sustainability Leadership or the Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Business.
Sustainable Business - PGDip
The Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Business (PG Dip) is a master's-level postgraduate programme. It is a flexible option for continued professional development, combining a practical focus with academic rigour, and exploring innovations in sustainable business.
Fully accredited by the University of Cambridge, it is equivalent to two thirds of a master’s, and is delivered by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL).
Students take 3 years to complete the Diploma, across two stages. Stage 1 comprises one of CISL's Postgraduate Certificates in Sustainable Business. Stage 2 is studied at a less intensive pace.
The PG Dip is designed for senior and mid-career managers from around the world with at least three years' work experience. The programme attracts those pursing a flexible and practical approach to exploring sustainability leadership, with practical assignments. Applicants are drawn from a range of industrial sectors, as well as from the public and third sectors.
